    Trust me, redflagforfights, this person has a very poor technique. For good left-hand technique watch the video by the late Jaco Pastorius or either of the two by John Patitucci.

    My apologies for misidentifying the bass, BTW. It’s not very clearly visible in the shots, but that’s still a pretty lame excuse!

    It’s not a P-bass, but a Jazz bass. He isn’t using one-finger-per-fret but a “box” technique (similar to the three-finger technique used on the double-bass). This is better where fifths and octaves are involved (as here). He’s not a great player by any means (poor tone and time, clumsy left hand with thumb over neck instead of behind it).
